Former Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich made frequent sackings of coaches a regular occurrence. The Russian tycoon sacked 13 coaches in 19 years.
Everton’s Malin Farhad Moshiri is also walking the same path. The Monaco-based British-Iranian businessman laid off 6 coaches in 7 years. The latest coach to be sacked by him is Frank Lampard.
Lampard was sacked by Everton a year after taking over as coach. Former Leeds coach Marcelo Bielsa is rumored to be the new coach. Rumors of Lampard’s departure had been heard for weeks. Everton, who have played in the top tier of the English Premier League for 70 years, are now in danger of being relegated to the Championship. Having lost 9 of their last 12 matches in the Premier League, they have dropped to 19th in the points table. In two seasons together, Lampard won only 9 out of 38 games played under him.
