On the other hand, Rekha Gupta is BJP’s candidate for Mayor of Delhi Municipality and Kamal Bagri is the Deputy Mayor’s candidate. Rekha Gupta elected councilor from Shalimar Bagh. Kamal Bagri is the councilor of Ramnagar.
Delhi Municipal elections were held in December last year. BJP is trying its best to win this election by forming one municipality by combining three municipalities. But in the election AAP captured most of the 250 wards. AAP alone won 134 wards. BJP won in 104.
In addition to the elected councillors, 7 Lok Sabha and 3 Rajya Sabha MPs of Delhi are entitled to vote for the posts of Mayor and Deputy Mayor. Apart from them, the Speaker nominates 14 MLAs of the state to the Municipal Council every year. These 24 also have the right to vote.
