Khaled Sherif, Assistant Minister of Tourism for Digital Transformation, said: “We offer many things digitally to improve the tourist experience, and move to the era of digital applications, most notably the electronic visa, and this website is implemented through the Ministry of Interior, which is in charge of issuing visas, indicating that the electronic visa website allows 78 nationalities to obtain Entry visa to Egypt electronically before coming to it.
Sherif added, in a telephone interview to the “Al-Hayat Al-Youm” program on “Al-Hayat” satellite channel, on Tuesday evening: “The tourist enters the electronic visa website, uploads his papers and obtains his visa before his arrival in Egypt, and upon his arrival at the airport in Egypt, he shows the QR code.” He gets an entry stamp and enters the country.”
He continued, that there are 35 sites and museums from which you can get tickets and pay by credit card, explaining that there were 2 million tickets booked in December, and the vast majority are foreign tourists.
Dr. Khaled Sherif, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Digital Transformation, said in previous statements that the tourism and antiquities sector is a promising sector in light of the Egyptian state’s interest in implementing the digital transformation system in projects related to this sector, explaining that Egypt is anticipating, during the next few years, a doubling of the number of tourists. Visitors come to it, with a capacity to accommodate 30 million tourists, compared to 15 million tourists at the present time.
