According to family sources, Ashiq was born in Balaveer village in Boda upazila of Panchagarh. He completed his high school from Rangpur Cantonment Public School and College. He passed the fifth grade after receiving a scholarship in the talent pool. After that from the same institution he passed SSC and HSC with GPA-5 in each subject and got admitted to Rajshahi University Law Department. In the academic year 2016-17, Ashiq stood third in graduation.
In response, Ashiq-uz-Zaman said, ‘This is a great achievement for me, for my parents. I have made my parents, my department and teachers proud. I am proud to make them proud. I want to build a career in the judiciary.’
