In December 2020, the number of female customers increased to 40 lakh 75 thousand and the number of male customers increased to 52 lakh 82 thousand. In December 2021, the number of female customers increased to 62 lakh 50 thousand and the number of male customers increased to 73 lakh 29 thousand. It shows that in 2020 and 2021, an average of more than two million women customers have joined the agent banking service.
Apart from deposits and withdrawals, small loans, electricity, gas and water bills can also be paid through agent banking services. Apart from this, a large part of expatriate income is now coming through this service. As a result, most of the family members of those who have gone abroad for work are now receiving income through agent banking services.
Agent banking service was officially launched in 2014. That year, Bank Asia and Agrani Bank launched this service. Now 31 banks are providing agent banking services in the country. The banks that are providing this service are NRB Commercial Bank, Dutch Bangla Bank, Al-Arafah Bank, Madhumati. Bank, Social Islami Bank, Standard Bank, First Security Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, Midland Bank, UCB Bank, The City Bank, AB Bank, Islami Bank, Premier Bank, NRB Bank, BRAC Bank, Eastern Bank, One Bank, Mercantile Bank , Shahjalal Islami Bank, Exim Bank, Padma Bank, Jamuna Bank, Prime Bank, Global Islami Bank, Meghna Bank, Southeast Bank, Sonali Bank and South Bangla Agriculture and Commerce Bank.
