In order to implement this new initiative, on October 30 last year, Dhaka University’s highest policy-making forum Syndicate approved a policy titled ‘Policy for admission of students to vacant seats in regular post-graduate programs’. The policy is as follows:
1 (a): Students who have obtained Bachelor’s (Honours) degree of minimum four years duration from a UGC approved University may apply for admission to the vacant seats in Post Graduate Programmes.
(b): The number of seats for admission may be more or less than zero number of seats considering the capacity of the department-institute and national and international demand. However, in this case, the approval of the academic council must be taken in due process before organizing the admission test.
(c): Age and academic year of the candidate shall not be binding for this admission.
2 (A): Candidates must fulfill the minimum qualification for admission in Pre-Graduate class by Dhaka University and related units of Secondary or equivalent and Higher Secondary or equivalent. At present the aggregate GPA of SSC and HSC examination (including fourth subject) for science unit is minimum 8 and separately 3.50; A minimum sum of two GPAs of 7.50 and 3 separately for Arts, Law and Social Science units; Aggregate GPA of SSC-HSC minimum 7.50 and separately 3 for business education unit and minimum aggregate GPA of 6.50 and separately 3 for fine arts unit. Apart from this, candidates seeking admission to Post Graduate should have a minimum GPA of 3.25 (4 scale) in Graduation (Honors). In special cases, the candidate has to fulfill the prescribed conditions of the department-institute.
(b): Students who have obtained Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a foreign university may apply for admission subject to assessment of degree equivalency by the Faculty.
