Books – Nashat Ali:
Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education, said that the school attendance rate reached 87.3%, indicating that the absence rate is in the third preparatory and third secondary grades.
This came during the plenary session of the Senate, chaired by Counselor Abdel-Wahhab Abdel-Razek, while responding to requests for a general discussion regarding the advancement of the educational process.
He pointed out that students’ attendance at school should be through attractive content, noting that activities such as sports and music were relied upon.
On motivating students to attend schools, the minister referred to the return of the year’s work, and relying on two exams, the student gets the highest score in them.
The Minister of Education said, “At the time, if I had complained to my parents that the teacher had beaten me, he would have continued with me, but the situation is different now.”
He added, “We reduced education to a knowledge test only,” noting that we are targeting qualified teachers in guiding students on the best learning methods.
He explained that the application of modern education systems means that the student does not need the monthly exam or the mid-year exam, pointing out that for the first time a guardian participates in the evaluation of his son, especially with regard to behavioral values.
And the Minister of Education continued: We must work with the faculties of education to prepare “coach” teachers for the learning process, pointing out that among the recent assessments there are strengths and weaknesses.
The minister said that the school is the real place for teaching and learning, continuing: “If it plays its role, no one will resort to conferences and private lessons.”
He stressed that there are many challenges facing the educational process, foremost of which is the inability of teachers, as well as educational buildings.
