Dr. Mustafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, held a meeting yesterday evening; To follow up on cooperation files with the World Bank Group, in the presence of Hassan Abdullah, Governor of the Central Bank, Dr. Rania Al-Mashat, Minister of International Cooperation, Dr. Muhammad Maait, Minister of Finance, Nader Muhammad, Regional Director of the World Bank, and Marina Wes, Country Director of the World Bank, Rami Abul Naga, Deputy Governor of the Central Bank, and Zakia Ibrahim, Assistant Deputy Governor of the Central Bank.
The prime minister praised the decades-long cooperation between Egypt and the World Bank, as the cooperation portfolio reached nearly $7 billion, financing vital projects related to various aspects of development in Egypt.
The Prime Minister stressed the importance of completing the development cooperation program between Egypt and the World Bank regarding financing development policies, as soon as possible.
He praised the framework of the strategic partnership between Egypt and the World Bank, and the importance it represents in creating job opportunities, developing human resources, and improving resilience in facing crises.
Representatives of the World Bank reviewed the latest developments in cooperation programs between the World Bank Group and Egypt in various fields, including the field of social protection, after the Board of Executive Directors of the World Bank Group recently approved a new development financing of $500 million in order to support the country’s efforts to expand safety and protection nets. social services through the “Takaful and Karama” program.
The World Bank’s regional director referred to the meetings he held during his visit with the Minister of Finance and a number of officials, which he will complete during the visit with meetings with a number of ministers and officials of the Sovereign Fund of Egypt. He also praised the Egyptian state’s approval of the state ownership policy document.
It is worth noting that the World Bank Group is one of Egypt’s largest multilateral development partners. The current portfolio of development cooperation between the Arab Republic of Egypt and the World Bank Group includes 14 projects worth $6.8 billion, in addition to 23 technical support and consultancy projects.
