At one point in that speech, Paludan said, ‘If you don’t think there should be freedom of expression, you should live somewhere else.’
Immediately after this incident, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey said in a statement, “We strongly condemn such a heinous incident as an attack on our holy books.” Allowing anti-Islamic acts that insult Muslims and our sacred values under the guise of freedom of expression is completely unacceptable.’
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlit Savasglu expressed his anger at the Swedish authorities for failing to ban such anti-religious acts as public burning of the Koran. He said, ‘This incident of burning the holy book of Muslims, the Koran, is not freedom of expression in any way, it is an anti-racist act.’
