Claiming that thousands of leaders and activists are still in the dark cells of the prison, Mirza Fakhrul said, ‘You will be surprised to hear, this time in a cell, in a cell where one person can live, 9 people are kept together in that cell. They were not allowed to come out of that cell for seven days. Such brutal torture has been carried out in the prison.’
Mirza Fakhrul alleged that the current government is repressing only by using the state machinery unfairly. He said, ‘They (the present government) have taken away all the rights. Today, people are struggling, fighting to reclaim that right.’
Stating that it took two months for Ayub Khan to step down after Shaheed Asad’s sacrifice, BNP Secretary General said, ‘That was at least, the ruler of Pakistan resigned because he did not want to see the destruction of Pakistan. But they (current government) will not leave anything. In the end they will fight to protect the illegitimate power. They must be defeated by creating greater national unity.’
