Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel Al-Wazir, Minister of Transport, said that consideration was given to improving the trains in service with an increase in the price of the Talgo train ticket, as a committee was formed from the ministry and the railway that set the price of the first-class ticket on the Talgo train at 200 pounds and the second at 150 pounds.
And the “minister” added, during a special meeting with the journalist, Ahmed Musa, presenter of the “On My Responsibility” program, broadcast on “Sada Al-Balad” channel, today, Sunday, that there is a committee formed by the ministry and the railway authority that evaluated the gains that the Talgo train will achieve after its operation, at a value of 25. % profits, confirming that it does not achieve operating expenses for the first 3 years.
He explained that from the first day of operation, all first-class seats on the Talgo train were reserved, and 60% in the second class, stressing that the number of first-class carriages on the Talgo train will be increased to accommodate the volume of demand for it.
Kamel Al-Wazir denied canceling the regular train or increasing the price of the ticket, but it is possible to increase the price of the Talgo train ticket according to market economics and diesel prices, indicating that the incentive for the Talgo train conductor, the Kamsari and the employees will be increased for their greater effort in providing the service.
The Minister of Transport pointed out that, during the month of July, the volume of expenditure and imports on the Talgo train will be studied to determine the price of the ticket, explaining that the foreign passenger, when booking a sleeping or Talgo train, puts a visa card, and the dollar or its equivalent is withdrawn according to the price of the ticket.
