Major General Ahmed Rashid, Governor of Giza, stressed the heads of neighborhoods, centers and cities, in coordination with the Directorate of Supply and Supply Investigation, and the relevant agencies and departments, to intensify control over markets and outlets for selling food and supply commodities, prevent monopolistic practices, and monitor any cases of violation or circulation of goods unfit for human consumption, within the framework of the supervisory role of the governorate to ensure Safety of goods offered to citizens.
According to Sunday’s statement, the governor followed the efforts of the Supply Investigation Department and the Supply Directorate, in cooperation with the center and city of Abu Nomros, to launch a massive campaign against the violating establishments, which succeeded in seizing 257 tons of food commodities and supplies and 17,000 pieces of non-conforming chairs accessories in 6 violating establishments.
The efforts included seizing a warehouse for food commodities to store a quantity of 105 tons (rice, beans, and lentils) without a license and withholding its sale to citizens, in addition to seizing an unlicensed sugar-packing factory to store an amount of 25 tons of sugar of unknown origin.
The seizures also included 120 tons of fodder that was seized in a violating factory, including (broken beans, soybean meal, dishishah, white corn), and a sieve for subsidized municipal flour was seized to preserve it at an amount of 1.5 tons.
In addition to seizing two violating factories, the first for the production of chairs, and the second for the production of plastic pipes for electricity, using a well-known trademark in violation.
Immediately, the violating establishments were closed, legal measures were taken against their owners, and the seizures were kept in the city’s warehouses.
Brigadier General Yahya Zaghloul, Director of the Supply Investigation Department in Giza, Hala Gharib, Director of the Supply Directorate, and the Supply Department and the Center and City of Abu Nomros, participated in the campaigns.
