A 14-party alliance was formed with 11 parties from Awami League, Jasad, NAP (Mozaffar) and Left Alliance. After that, some parties left the alliance at various times. Some new groups have been added. However, whatever the number of parties in the alliance, it remains a 14-party alliance.
A top leader of a partner party of 14 parties told Prothom Alo on the condition of anonymity that the issue of compromise with various parties including expansion of the alliance is not part of the political process. Such activities are carried out outside the political process from other sides of the government.
The leader of the partner party thinks that some parties are showing interest in joining the 14 parties on their own. Again, from various aspects of the government, efforts are being made to bring certain parties into the coalition of the ruling party. These two mechanisms are at work behind the idea of alliance expansion. Which can create tension with old alliance partners.
Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon told Prothom Alo that 14 parties cannot be made into 140 parties. Those who are in 14 groups have been there for a long time.
