Abu Horaira said in the press conference that last Thursday, Roknuzzaman picked up the head teacher Nurunnabi from the upazila education office and abused and threatened her with death and physically assaulted her. It spoils the image of the party. Later in this incident, on the same day and night, Roknuzzaman was charged with breaking party discipline and recommended to the Kurigram district Awami League to take action in this regard. Later, on the orders of District Awami League General Secretary Aman Uddin Ahmed, Roknuzzaman was relieved from all party positions including the post of Upazila Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Affairs Secretary on Saturday night.
District Awami League general secretary Aman Uddin Ahmed told Prothom Alo, ‘Roknuzzaman raised his hand on a teacher. We see this as a serious crime. It has damaged the image of Bangladesh Awami League. Awami League is a disciplined party. There is still no place for an unethical person. He who raises his hand against a teacher will not benefit the party and the society. Therefore, he has been exempted from all the posts of Awami League, including the secretary of relief and social welfare of Upazila Awami League.
