Major General Hisham Amna, Minister of Local Development, received Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, at the ministry’s headquarters, to follow up on the implementation of the presidential directives and the assignments of the Prime Minister to implement service and development projects of interest to citizens in various fields.
At the beginning of the meeting, Major General Hisham Amna was keen to congratulate the governor of Aswan and all the citizens of the governorate on the occasion of the national holiday, which falls on January 15 of each year. The Minister of Local Development also congratulated Major General Ashraf Attia on the occasion of receiving the award for the best Arab governor during the government excellence competition. For the year 2021 – 2022.
The meeting witnessed the follow-up of the efforts of the Aswan Governorate to control the markets and provide basic and strategic food commodities to citizens at reasonable prices, and the establishment of “Welcome Ramadan” exhibitions in all cities of the governorate to provide food commodities to citizens at reduced prices and prepare for the blessed month of Ramadan, in implementation of the directives of His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to the government in this regard.
Major General Hisham Amna stressed the need to expand the launch of “Welcome Ramadan” exhibitions, awnings, and fixed and mobile outlets in all cities and centers, in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, to alleviate the burden of citizens and provide these goods in all regions, as well as to address any attempts by merchants to exaggerate prices or monopolize goods. directly affecting citizens.
Major General Ashraf Attia said that the governorate seeks to combat high prices by providing food and consumer goods at low prices and high quality to meet the needs of the people of the governorate, and to contribute to fighting high prices and the greed of some traders in the local markets.
And the governor of Aswan indicated that this month witnessed the opening of about a number of “Welcome Ramadan” exhibitions in some centers and cities, to sell various food and basic commodities such as meat, poultry, vegetables, fruits, legumes, oil, sugar, pasta and other strategic commodities, as the works of these exhibitions continue until the end of the blessed month of Ramadan.
During the meeting, the Minister of Local Development followed up with Major General Ashraf Attia, the executive position of the projects of the presidential initiative “A Decent Life”, which will be implemented in its first phase in the villages of Edfu, Kom Ombo and Nasr al-Nuba centers, with a total of 1,231 projects in the various service sectors that concern the people of those villages, especially drinking water and sanitation. Health, youth, sports, electricity, gas, education, environment improvement, communications, etc., in addition to local administration projects for the implementation of a number of markets, parking lots and firefighting units, which number about 19 projects.
The Minister of Local Development stressed the importance of periodic follow-up to the rates of implementation of the targeted projects and overcoming any obstacles facing the implementation work in order to quickly complete all projects within the timetable to improve the level of services provided to citizens and contribute to making a quantum leap in the lives of citizens in the targeted villages.
Major General Hisham Amna referred to the great interest that His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi attaches to the Decent Life Initiative and the continuous follow-up on the land of the governorates in field visits to meet the citizens benefiting from this national project and to complete the planned service projects despite the global economic conditions, referring to the weekly meetings held by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister, with the ministers concerned with implementing the presidential initiative to monitor completion rates in all ongoing projects, overcoming obstacles and problems on a timely basis, and ensuring that all projects are completed on time and operationalized to provide services and meet the demands and needs of the people and citizens in all targeted villages and hamlets.
For his part, Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, conveyed a message of thanks and appreciation from the people of the governorate’s villages to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, after the comprehensive change witnessed by their villages in all sectors of public services, public utilities, and infrastructure.
The governor of Aswan said that he is conducting continuous field tours to all the targeted villages, with the participation of the executive leaders of the endowment, on the percentages and rates of implementation of the ongoing projects in all the targeted villages of the presidential initiative, “The Comprehensive Development of the Egyptian Rural… a Decent Life”, to ensure that they are completed on time, and that complacency is not allowed and negligent contractors are excluded. And contribute to meeting the demands and needs of the masses as required.
The meeting also witnessed a review of the investment plan projects for the fiscal year 2022/2023 to implement a large number of projects in the areas of paving roads, developing streets, improving the environment, cleanliness, electricity, lighting, security, traffic, firefighting, and supporting the needs of local units. The Minister of Local Development directed the necessity of full coordination with all executive agencies and companies operating in Executing these projects to overcome any obstacles facing implementation, speeding up performance rates, and completing those projects that will contribute to improving the level of services provided to the citizens of Aswan Governorate.
Major General Hisham Amna was also keen during the meeting to follow up on the position of implementing the presidential initiative to plant “100 million trees”, which started in all governorates and includes roads and central islands, and the scope of government agencies such as schools, universities, youth centers, main, regional and circular roads, and entrances to cities, villages and squares. The main and inner islands, and planting trees in public parks, where about 125,000 trees will be planted in Aswan Governorate, among (fruit trees – wooden trees).
During the meeting, the Minister of Local Development followed up with the Governor of Aswan a number of development projects and improvement of services in the governorate, including the implementation of the “Egypt Walk” project, which includes the development, beautification and expansion of the old and new Corniche roads with a length of 13 km, which contributes to providing an opportunity for citizens in the governorate and visitors from neighboring governorates to enjoy The natural panorama of the immortal Neil Aswan.
The meeting also touched on the file of providing small, medium and micro job opportunities for the people of the governorate, especially the breadwinner women and youth, through soft loans from the Local Development Fund and the “Your Project” programme. It contributes to reducing the unemployment rate, providing real and sustainable job opportunities, and improving the income level of families.
