Books – Islam Lutfi:
Nabil Abdel Salam, a member of the Bar Council and rapporteur of the freedoms and sub-union committees, called for the need for the general council to convene periodically, activate all committees and start working on them, and not unilaterally make decisions and not spare the members of the general council and the sub-union councils.
And he added in a statement, today, Saturday: “We fight every day for many issues, and we must not forget what we will leave to future generations of laxity in assuming our responsibility towards the concerns and demands of the General Assembly, the latest of which is the electronic bill file and the lack of sufficient support for lawyers.”
Abd al-Salam called for activating the Law on Lawyers, especially Article 54 of the Lawyers’ Law, which deals with the consolidation of the concept of lawyer immunity, which provides for the punishment of anyone who assaults a lawyer or insults him by pointing, saying or threatening while carrying out his professional work or because of it, with the penalty prescribed for whoever commits this crime against members of the tribunal.
Abdel Salam criticized the permanent delay in every crisis or case related to the General Assembly of Lawyers, as well as the state of unilateralism in decisions and sparing the rest of the members of the General Bar Council.
He also stressed the importance of escalating all the problems and demands of lawyers to all parties, from the first Minister of Justice and the House of Representatives to the President of the Republic, and working to amend the Law on Advocacy and put it as a draft law before the House of Representatives.
