Abu Horaira said, ‘On that day, Roknuzzaman got excited and started punching Nurunnabi. I and the present teachers rescued Nurunnabi from Roknuzzaman’s attack and put her in police custody. Originally, the two had previous enmity over the recruitment issue of Phulkar Char Lower Secondary School. I learned about it later.’
When asked whether party action will be taken against Roknuzzaman, Abu Horaira said, ‘Roknuzzaman has verbally apologized to me for beating up the headmaster in anger. I am President of Roumari Upazila Awami League, State Minister of Primary and Mass Education. I informed Zakir Hossain. He is in Dhaka. On returning to Roumari, a party meeting will be held to decide on Roknuzzaman. What Roknuzzaman has done is a big injustice. Therefore, not a single decision, but a party decision will be taken regarding Roknuzzaman.’
Rup Kumar Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Roumari police station, told Prothom Alo that the head teacher made a written complaint to Nurunnabi police station on Thursday. The police investigated and initially found the allegations to be true. The written complaint was recorded as a case today.
