In today’s session, the court heard the defense of the first defendant, the president of Damanhour University, after his lawyer was unable to attend during the previous session and requested an adjournment.
In its pleading, the prosecution demanded the imposition of the maximum penalty on the defendants, especially the first defendant who betrayed the trust, took bribes in exchange for assigning contracting operations, and privileges represented in reducing the rental value of university cafeterias, allowing an unofficial electronic platform for courses and textbooks, and limiting the organization of parties within the university to a company. particular.
The prosecution said that the investigations and evidence showed that the accused obtained the bribe amounts in installments, most of them through his driver as an intermediary, who used to receive them, and put them in the car of the university president, as well as obtain a payment directly inside his house.
During the previous sessions, the court watched recorded video clips showing the president of the university, his driver, and another defendant, during which rolls of paper were transferred from the latter’s car to the car of the university president.
In another clip, the process of arresting and searching the accused, and the process of searching his car, found in it two bags, one beige and the other black, wrapped in plastic wrap, and inside each of them was money and a paper with English phrases written on it, and a contract for the sale of a unit was also found inside a residential compound.
The evidence also included a clip of the moment a home of his own was searched and a red bag, paper envelopes and plastic bags filled with money were found under his bedroom bed.
