According to the Taiwan Air Force, six F-16V fighters flew as part of patrol and training missions. Two fighter jets were armed with missiles.
An Air Force statement said, “In the face of threats from recent military exercises by the Chinese Communist Forces, we remain vigilant in establishing the concept of “anywhere battlefield and anytime training” to ensure national security.”
Defense Ministry spokesman Sun Li-feng said Taipei had condemned China’s actions in recent days. In addition, this situation was the perfect opportunity to hone the skills of Taiwan’s forces.
He said, ‘We will take the opportunity to weld all the training that we usually do. Through this we will mature our current technologies and bring them to a level that is effective for war.’
The official name of Taiwan is ‘Republic of China’. Referring to this name, he said, “The forces of the Republic of China are confident, capable and determined to protect the security of the Republic of China.”
