Surrey costs increased
Farooq Hossain’s house is in Boguratala village of Abhaynagar upazila of Jessore. This time he cultivated Aman in his three bigha land. Last year he bought TSP at Tk 28, MOP Tk 16, DAP Tk 20 and Urea at Tk 18 per kg. And he bought diesel at 65 rupees per liter. Last year I had to give a little irrigation. Aman’s land is being prepared by irrigation due to low rainfall this time.
Farooq said, ‘The cost of irrigation and farming is increasing by increasing the price of diesel. Last year I spent a total of 14 thousand rupees on one bigha of land. This time the situation is bad. One bigha of land will exceed 20,000 taka.
Regarding the additional cost of the farmer, the Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension, Jessore office said. Manjurul Haque told Prothom Alo that increasing the prices of diesel, urea fertilizers and agricultural inputs has had an impact on agriculture. But the farmers are also getting good price for the produce.
