According to the New Mexico newspaper Santa Fe, Albuquerque Police Deputy Commander Kyle Hartsock said at a briefing Thursday local time, “Our three victims have one thing in common — their ethnic identity and their religion.”
Muhammad Afzal Hossain was shot and killed outside his apartment complex in Albuquerque on Monday, police said. The 27-year-old planning director from Hispaniola came to the United States from Pakistan.
Earlier, Aftab Hussain, a member of Albuquerque’s large Afghan community, was killed. The 41-year-old man’s bullet-riddled body was found near the city’s international district on July 26.
