The President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, affirmed, Thursday in Oran, that Sonatrach is “one of the powerful tools that allow Algeria to exercise its national sovereignty.”
President Tebboune praised, on the sidelines of his supervision of the ceremony of laying the foundation stone for the sea water desalination plant in Ras El Abyad, in the municipality of Ain Karma, within the framework of a working and inspection visit to the state of Oran, the role played by this company, which is “one of the powerful tools that allow Algeria to exercise its national sovereignty.”
In this regard, the President of the Republic described Sonatrach as “the shield that protects Algeria after its armed forces, militants and free citizens”.
The President of the Republic expressed his sincere thanks to all the workers of Sonatrach for their efforts and for showing the patriotic spirit, noting that history will record that this national company allowed
For Algeria to “raise its voice and head in very sensitive circumstances.”
After Mr. Tebboune followed up a presentation on the most important achievements of Sonatrach since 2020, he stressed the reconsideration of investment in the field of diesel production, noting that the trend is moving globally towards reducing the use of this type of energy.
The President of the Republic instructed to study this issue with the Ministries of Transport and Energy “so that investment in the production of this type of fuel is not lost.”
Mr. Tebboune also hailed Sonatrach’s efforts to produce materials that Algeria has been importing until today, praising the group’s endeavor to enter into “the new policy to strengthen national production and abandon import, except when necessary.”
