Devlet Bahceli launched a personal attack on Kyriakos Mitsotakis, a day after Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s harsh statements that the Greek Prime Minister “no longer exists” for him.
Erdogan’s government partner accused the Greek prime minister of “aspiring to become the pawn of the West”, while exceeding all limits, talking about “historic rupture” and “dishonorable weakness”, characterizing Kyriakos Mitsotakis as “insidious and cowardly” his grandparents “.
Bahceli said that no matter how much Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis opposes, there is no other way out of a two-state solution based on sovereignty and equality in Cyprus.
“The fate of Cyprus is not Hellenism, but Ottoman rule. He accused him of aspiring to the pawn of the West… In our opinion, it is quite problematic that the speech of the Greek Prime Minister in the US Congress was applauded 37 times in 42 minutes, ten of which were standing. “We do not know what the deputies found in Mitsotakis’s speech, but if we know anything it is that they met in common ground against Turkey”, said initially Nevlet Bahceli.
He continued: “Referring to the ‘Cyprus peace operation’ in 1974, the Greek prime minister, who claimed that Hellenism had suffered for 48 years and suffered an incurable wound, ignored the facts and tried to hide the barbarity. First of all, let everyone know that Cyprus is and will remain Turkish. No matter how much Prime Minister Mitsotakis opposes, there is no other way out in Cyprus than the two-state solution, which will be based on sovereignty and equality. The will of Turkey and the Turkish Cypriots is in this direction. Either they will accept it willingly or this goal will become a reality. When will Mitsotakis remember the massacres, the bloody attacks, the atrocities and the tortures against the Turkish Cypriots? (…) The destiny of Cyprus is not Greek rule, but Turkish rule “.
“It is a historic rupture, a dishonorable weakness that this prime minister, who timidly took refuge under the wings of the United States and speaks back and forth, aspires to become the pawn of the West. Mitsotakis, who brought the map of the Blue Homeland to the agenda, in his meeting with the US president and complained about Turkey, is as insidious and cowardly as his grandparents. “The Turkish nation will resist to the end the policy of harassment and provocations of Greece and will stand under any circumstances against the attackers in the Mediterranean and the Aegean,” he concluded.
