Al-Ahly’s negotiations with Moroccan Ashraf bin Sharqi reached advanced stages in order to complete the deal in the upcoming summer transfers, after the player’s contract with Zamalek expired.
According to the regulations of the International Football Association (FIFA), Al-Ahly has the right to contract with the player during the last 6 months of his contract without the player returning to Zamalek.
A source close to the deal told “Masrawy” that Ashraf Bencharki was presented to Al-Ahly some time ago and negotiated with him came after a poll of the team’s coach, Pitso Musimani, according to the rules in force in contracting new deals.
The source, who declined to be identified, added that Amir Tawfiq, the contracting manager at Al-Ahly, and Hussam Ghaly, a member of the board of directors, held a meeting with Bencharqi in the last hours of last week in order to put the last frills on the contract, which came as part of a series of sessions that brought the two sides together.
The source revealed that the new contract will be for a period of 3 years for one and a half million dollars per season (80 million pounds in total) without penalty terms and with the presence of privileges for the player, stressing that the official signing has not yet taken place.
Bencharki, 28, has played with Zamalek 100 games since joining him in the summer of 2019 from Saudi Al Hilal for $ 300,000, where he scored 36 goals and made 25 and won 4 championships with Zamalek, the League, the Egypt Cup, the local and African Super.
