Abdul Mannan, controller of water measurement at Jamalpur Paubo, told Prothom Alo on Thursday morning that the water level had risen by 101 cm in the last 24 hours and was flowing at 198 cm below the danger level. The water is rising abnormally more than any other time. There is a risk of flooding the low lying areas along the river.
Mohammad Abu Saeed, executive engineer of Paubo Jamalpur, told Prothom Alo that the water level in the river continues to rise due to the hill slope. The course of the river on the east side has changed. As a result, the water pressure in this part is high. At the same time there are strong currents in the river. The river depth is also much higher in the dam area. The intensity of the water is also high. Some parts of the dam have collapsed. He claimed that a total of 30 meters had collapsed. The repair work of the broken part has started. All sorts of measures have been taken to prevent the place from collapsing.
