In search of more privacy, some may resort to deleting a message through the Facebook messaging application, which may disappear forever, at least, from the strict Facebook Messenger perspective.
However, when you need to recover the deleted message via Facebook Messenger, there are actually some simple ways to do it, which many may not know.
Here are some of the methods you can use to recover deleted Facebook messages:
1. Check Archived Conversations
If you archive a conversation instead of deleting it completely, you will be able to recover messages very easily.
All you have to do is find the respective contact and once you open it, all your chats should be back.
2. Check your email
If you receive email alerts from Facebook Messenger, you may find what you’re looking for in your inbox.
Just do your research and see what happens.
3. Android File Management
There is a tricky way you can recover messages if you are using the Android operating system. And it’s all about cache and file manager (Android file manager).
And if you don’t already have a file manager app, you can download a free app from the Google Play Store.
Once you have the feature, open it and go to Internal Storage, followed by com.facebook.katana, then fb_temp.
There you will see any messages from your recent history, and with some luck, the deleted messages will be among them.
4. Download Facebook information
Facebook has a handy feature for downloading data on its site so the messages you’re looking for may be lurking there.
Just open Settings and go to Your Facebook Information, followed by Download your information.
Then select a date range, keep it as narrow as possible as it may take some time to download.
After that, tap on Deselect All and select the messages manually only.
Finally, click the download request at the bottom and it will be emailed to you as soon as it is ready.
5. Ask the second party to the conversation
The last option is to ask the person for a transcript of the conversation – if that is an option, of course.
