Eyewitnesses said that several leaders of Eden College Chhatra League told Prothom Alo that after the announcement of the committee yesterday, Tamanna Jasmine and Razia Sultana were greeted warmly by the college committee and other leaders who got seats in the central committee. At around 9 pm, supporters of Central Committee members Efrat Jahan, Tajunnahar Soma and Sabikunnahar Tamanna and Sonali Akter and Sushmita Barai, vice-presidents of the college committee, started protesting on campus.
Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Mujib of Eden College was protesting under the hall and on the verandah of the hall. At one point, they locked Tamanna Jasmine and Razia Sultana’s room. At that time some rooms of the hall were also vandalized. The protesting students chanted slogans like ‘Riva-Razia, shame of Chhatra League’, ‘President-Secretary, I want to be canceled, I want to be canceled’, ‘Nishi’s reign, Mani na manab na’ etc.
Several BCL leaders protesting said that although there were many more qualified candidates in Eden College, the committee was announced with one student as its chairman. There are various allegations against the general secretary. Apart from this, married, uneducated and controversial candidates have got seats in the committee. Benazir Hossain alias Nishi, the joint general secretary of the central student league, has illegally interfered in the formation of the committee of Eden College. The new committee has been formed ignoring the leaders and workers involved in the politics of Chhatra League for a long time.
