Al-Ahly resumed its training without rest today, Sunday, at Al-Teach Stadium on the island, in preparation for facing Algeria’s ES Setif next Saturday in the first leg of the semi-finals of the African Champions League.
The training session began with a meeting between the technical staff and the players to discuss some technical issues with the players, as well as the negatives of the last match after the tie yesterday, Saturday, with Ceramica Cleopatra (1-1) in the Egyptian League.
In its meeting with the players, the technical staff stressed the importance of the team’s upcoming match against ES Setif, which needs the focus of all players to give their best.
Al-Ahly players underwent intense physical training with the ball during the team’s collective training.
The players participated in physical exercises with the ball, while the group that participated in the Ceramica match yesterday was satisfied with performing a variety of recovery exercises.
The technical staff was keen to reduce the physical load relatively on the players, in order to avoid fatigue and pressure in the matches the team faces.
Amr Al-Sulayya, the team’s midfielder, began running training around the stadium, as he continues to implement his rehabilitation program to get rid of the injury to the hamstring muscle that he recently suffered.
Al-Sulayya conducted a solo training session in the gym under the supervision of Capello Rangwaja, the team’s load coach, before starting his running training.
Sayed Abdel Hafeez, Al-Ahly’s director of football, met with the technical staff led by Pitso Mosimane on the sidelines of the training session.
Abdel Hafeez was keen to meet with the technical staff to discuss some organizational and administrative matters and other important files, before the upcoming confrontation against ES Setif.
