Hisham Tawfiq, Minister of Public Business Sector, told Masrawy that there are consultations to draw up a bidding for a tender to choose a partner to establish a company to manage and operate an electric car charging station company (under establishment).
The committee formed by the founders of the Public Charging Stations Company for Electric Vehicles, had received 14 companies and alliances that expressed their interest in the ministry’s invitation to search for a partner.
The committee settled on qualifying 10 files for companies/alliances based on experience and financial solvency, in preparation for a tender.
The minister explained to Masrawy that the committee is currently working with a specialized consultant to develop the bid requirements in preparation for the offering.
The minister refused to set a date for the tender, noting that it will take place soon.
The ministry is seeking to provide the necessary infrastructure for electric vehicles, which is integrated with the ministry’s project to produce different sizes of electric vehicles (owners/microbuses), through its subsidiaries (Al-Nasr/Engineering Vehicles) in cooperation with European and Asian companies.
The Nasr Automotive Company is preparing to sign an agreement with a Chinese company to produce an electric car in Egypt, as the company signed a memorandum of understanding with the Chinese partner this month, and the final contracts are expected to be signed within two months, according to sources who previously spoke to Masrawy.
