The German Heart Foundation said that atrial fibrillation is one of the common heart rhythm disorders, explaining that it is caused by a random transmission of the transmitting signal in the two chambers of the atria in the heart, which disrupts the systolic function of the atria, and this appears on the wall of the atria, which “shiver” in place instead of contracting together in a way regular.
The foundation explained that the causes of atrial fibrillation lie in coronary heart disease, heart attack, high blood pressure, diabetes and hyperthyroidism, while risk factors include smoking, drinking alcohol, obesity and sleep apnea.
The symptoms of atrial fibrillation are a fast heart rate of 120 to 160 beats per minute, knowing that the normal rate ranges between 60 and 90 beats per minute in the sleep mode, in addition to irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, shortness of breath, dizziness, and a feeling of exhaustion and fatigue.
A doctor should be consulted as soon as these symptoms are noticed to undergo timely treatment, which is done with medications such as beta-blockers or devices such as defibrillators, knowing that neglecting treatment increases the risk of heart failure and stroke.
