As of next May, the Consumer Protection Agency will start implementing its decision No. 1/4 of 2022 regarding the useful life of goods, which was published in the Official Gazette on the beginning of February. The decision aims to preserve consumer rights, guarantee him a good commodity and after-sales service.
The shelf life of the commodity or device, according to the Consumer Protection Resolution, is the obligation of the supplier to provide spare parts and service centers for the product, while the warranty is the period during which the supplier bears the defects of the device at his expense, if it has manufacturing defects.
Ayman Hossam El-Din, head of the Consumer Protection Agency, confirmed that an extended meeting was held with the national industrialists in Egypt, who are up to the responsibility and respect. Its function is to install or run.
The head of the Consumer Protection Agency added, during press statements, that the quality standard of products comes from their default life, and therefore there are companies in the Egyptian market that guarantee their products for life, given the manufacturer’s knowledge of the quality of the components of his product, and the extent of its tolerance for use,
Hossam El-Din stressed that writing the shelf life on the commodity has become a necessity, as writing the warranty period and not declaring the shelf life of the commodity is considered deceptive behavior whose punishment in law is a fine of up to 2 million pounds, or the maximum value of the product.
