Ashraf Khader, a member of the Ismaili technical committee, confirmed that the Namibian striker Benson Chilongo had cut a flight ticket to return to his country, Namibia.
And the Ismaili squad to face Smouha on Tuesday in Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League witnessed the absence of Shilongo, amid allegations that he had escaped from the club.
Khadr said, in exclusive statements to Laila Koura: “Shilongo has been undisciplined for a while with the team for no reason.”
He added, “The player in the last match against Ghazl El-Mahalla refused to play the match, and he pleaded with abdominal pain.”
Khader indicated that the club’s board of directors has begun to take legal measures to preserve the club’s rights.
For his part, a source in Ismaily Leila Koura confirmed that everyone was surprised this morning, Sunday, by the absence of the team’s player, Shilongo, at the residence hotel, in preparation for the Smouha match.
The source explained that Chilongo did not notify the board of directors of anything during the last period, stressing that the board of directors paid all the players’ dues.
Shilongo’s contract with Ismaily expires at the end of the current season 2021/2022, and the player has the right to sign for any other club for free next January.
It is noteworthy that Ismaili is currently ranked 17th before last in the Egyptian Premier League after failing to achieve any victory, as it collected only two points from two draws after six rounds.
