The financial commitments of the External Bank of Algeria exceeded 3,000 billion DA at the end of last September, continuing its leadership in financing the national economy, according to this public bank.
The same source indicated that the External Bank of Algeria treated, during the year 2020, which suffered from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, a total of 4,762 loan files, belonging to all directorates (Directorate General, Directorate of Private Loans, regional directorates and agencies), registering an increase of 3 percent. compared to 2019.
The bank stated that the total financial cover allocated to loans increased by more than 43 percent, including loans destined for investment (+35 percent), exploitation loans (+44 percent) and loans directed to the private sector (+70 percent).
Investment projects accounted for 21 percent of the funds granted in 2020, and the latter was directed in particular to the extractive industries (44 percent) and the manufacturing industries (20 percent), while 16 percent were used in real estate financing.
In an effort to support the activity of economic dealers, who were affected by the effects of the global pandemic, the Bank accompanied them by renewing exploitation loans and granting new loans.
