Headaches in general or migraines in particular are among the annoying problems that most people face, especially after spending long periods of work behind computers or after a long period of study pressure and strenuous work.
Dr. Tatiana Von, a Russian neurologist, identified a number of products that cause headaches, and the accompanying headaches.
She explained that these products include citrus fruits, chocolate, coffee and alcoholic beverages, adding to the role of these substances in the occurrence of migraines.
The doctor spoke of migraine attacks that are accompanied by nausea and vomiting and last from 4 to 72 hours, according to “Russia Today”.
The doctor pointed out that women are more likely to suffer from migraines, as it is considered an inherited disease, adding that hunger, lack of sleep and weather changes are also among the causes of headaches.
The American magazine “Eat This, Not That” presented a list of foods that experts confirmed their unique ability to treat migraines, because they contain these elements:
1- The fish is pure because of an important ingredient
Fatty fish including sardines, anchovies, mackerel, salmon, albacore tuna and trout are among the richest sources of natural omega-3s. These fish contain eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), sometimes called marine omega-3, which are helpful in migraine headaches.
2- Chia seeds contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA).
Chia seeds are one of the most important plant sources of omega-3 fatty acids, as they are derived from alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which the body can convert into the important fatty acids EPA and DHA, but not in the amount that can be obtained from fish. Even more than fish, too.
3- Flax seeds after grinding
Flaxseeds also contain alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), which the body can convert in limited amounts into EPA and DHA. But to extract the beneficial fats, fresh flaxseeds must be ground before use.
4- Walnuts, every ounce is a treasure
A small amount (about 8 nuts) contains 2.5 grams of omega-3s, and walnuts contain more alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) per ounce than other items.
One ounce of delicious walnuts also contains 4 grams of protein and 2 grams of fiber, and they’re a good source of “magnesium,” a nutrient that some studies show may be helpful in reducing the frequency and severity of migraines.
5- Fish oil supplements are a good alternative
If fish is not available, fish oil supplements can provide similar results, helping to increase your omega-3 intake. Many health organizations, including the American Heart Association, recommend for anyone who does not eat fish or take fish oil supplements an estimated intake of about 1,000 milligrams of fish oil per day for adults.
