On the evening of Monday, September 5, the US Geological Survey monitored an earthquake measuring 6.5 on the Richter scale in western Canada.

The authority indicated that the earthquake occurred about 164 km between the south and southeast of the Kitimat municipality in British Columbia, western Canada.
The authority added, in a brief statement, that the source of the earthquake was 15 km underground.
