Today, Saturday, the Libyan capital, Tripoli, witnessed a protest pause, rejecting any attempts to postpone the date of the general elections scheduled for December 24, and specified in the road map emanating from the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.

This vigil, in which elite members of some unions, federations, parties, civil society organizations and national forces participated, after the armed clashes that took place in the Libyan capital, Tripoli, on Friday morning, between the 444th Brigade Combat Division of the Chief of Staff in Libya and the Stability Support Force. affiliated with the Libyan Presidential Council.

The university professor, Dr. “Ali Al-Kabeer,” said during his participation in this stand in a statement to (WAL), that it is a sense from the national forces of the seriousness of the situation and their belief that the people are the source of the authorities. This stand was organized to issue a statement at this difficult time that the Libyan nation is going through from Difficult political labors, referring to the state of anxiety, turmoil, fear, loss, and exacerbation of the difficult living life that the Libyan citizen is experiencing.

Al-Kabeer pointed out that this statement affirmed adherence to the date of the electoral maturity of December 24, 2021, specified in the road map.

The statement called on the House of Representatives and the Supreme Council of the State to quickly issue the electoral law to complete this entitlement as soon as possible in accordance with the mechanisms and controls specified in the road map for the preliminary stage of the comprehensive solution, pointing out that in the event of non-compliance or slowdown, they will be bypassed and resorting to alternatives and offering solutions that ensure the implementation of the electoral entitlement.

The statement called on the United Nations Support Mission in Libya to listen to the voice of the people, and to continue its efforts to support the Libyan political dialogue, advance the political process, determine the penalty for obstructionists, and oblige all parties to accept the election results.

At the conclusion of their statement, the participants in this pose called on all the spectra of the Libyan people to go out to the squares and squares to confirm the realization of these demands.

The Supreme Commander of the Libyan Army, President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad Al-Manfi, had ordered yesterday, Friday, all forces that clashed, or are in a state of clash in Tripoli, to stop immediately, and to return to their headquarters and barracks, “without delay for whatever reasons.”

He also ordered the exile to take immediate measures against the forces that clashed, and to exercise the powers that the law gives him to achieve control of the situation, and to report any action taken, according to a statement by the Libyan Presidential Media Office.

The Libyan official instructed the Military Prosecutor to open an immediate investigation with those forces and those responsible for those clashes, to take legal measures against them, and to report on what was taken, stressing all military and security units “the need for discipline and adherence to instructions and communications that prohibit movement, except with prior permission.” According to the applicable context.

For its part, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya expressed its “grave concern” about the armed clashes in Tripoli, and called for an “immediate cessation of hostilities”, and called on “all parties to exercise the utmost restraint.”
