“I condemn the seizure of power by force in Guinea and call for the release of President Alpha Condé,” Borrell said, calling on all actors to respect the rule of law and work for the peace and well-being of the Guinean people.

And earlier on Sunday, special forces of the Guinean army announced, through a video clip that spread on social media, the arrest of President Alpha Conde, the dissolution of the government and the suspension of the constitution, before broadcasting another video clip of the arrested president.
While uncertainty prevails over the developments of the situation in Conakry, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres “strongly” condemned “any seizure of power by force of arms” in Guinea.
