The Chamber of Grain Industry in the Federation of Industries announced a new tender to supply local white rice for the Ministry of Supply to put it on ration cards and through outlets of consumer complexes until next year at prices lower than those in other markets.
Tariq Hassanein, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Grain Industry in the Federation of Industries, said that the chamber continues to supply white rice for the benefit of the Ministry of Supply, and that the markets have not witnessed any crises in the shortage of any commodity during the Corona pandemic, at a time when major countries witnessed a shortage of food commodities. .
Rajab Shehata, head of the Rice Division in the Chamber of Grain Industry in the Federation of Industries, said that he had agreed with the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade, led by Dr. November 2021.
Shehata added that it is scheduled to supply quantities ranging from 30 to 40 thousand tons of rice per month until the end of August 2022, within the framework of the Rice Division’s keenness to provide any quantities needed by the Ministry at prices lower than those in other markets in the great cooperation of the Minister of Supply after his success in Providing and securing a stock of all basic food commodities and making them available to citizens on ration cards and the outlets of companies affiliated with the Ministry.
Shehata stated that the Rice Division had received nearly 240,000 tons of rice over the past months out of the total contracted quantities from the last tender, which is 270,000 tons, and that during this month and next month, it will finish supplying the rest of the contracted quantities, which are 30 thousand tons, to start as of From November 1, 2022, rice will be supplied under the new tender.
Shehata pointed out that it is scheduled to obtain quantities of local rice during the current harvest season, approximately 5 million tons of rice barley, equivalent to 3 million tons of white, and that these quantities would suffice the needs until August 2022.
