The Spanish national team regained the tone of the victories it missed in the last round of the second group of European qualifiers for the World Cup, to be held in Qatar next year, after its great 4-0 victory over its guest Georgia on Sunday in the fifth round of the group, which also witnessed a tie with Kosovo. Spain temporarily rose to the top of the group with 10 points from 5 matches, a point ahead of its closest followers, Sweden, who played 3 matches, while Kosovo was in third place with four points from 4 matches, followed by Greece with three points from 3 matches, and Georgia was at the bottom Ranking with 1 point from 5 matches.
Jose Luis Gaya opened the scoring for Spain in the 14th minute, before Carlos Soler added the second goal in the 25th minute, while Ferran Torres and Pablo Sarabia added the third and fourth goals in the 41st and 63rd minutes, respectively.
Greece missed a victory that was within its reach, to be satisfied with a 1-1 draw with its host, Kosovo.
The Greek team took the initiative to score through Anastasios Dovikas in the second minute of stoppage time for the first half, but Vedat Muriki equalized for Kosovo in the second minute of lost time for the second half.
