The Confederation of African Football (CAF) issued a joint statement with the International Football Association “FIFA” regarding the meeting of Guinea Conakry with Morocco in the second round of the World Cup (Qatar 2020) qualifiers.
Both CAF and FIFA decided to postpone the match between Guinea Conakry and Morocco due to the events that took place today in the Guinean capital.
The statement issued on Sunday evening said: “To ensure the safety and security of all players and protect all match officials, FIFA and CAF have decided to postpone the Guinea vs Morocco 2022 World Cup qualifying match, which was scheduled to be hosted in Conakry, Guinea, on Monday 6 September.”
The Moroccan team won the first round against its Sudanese counterpart, and the second match was supposed to take place against Guinea after the team arrived in the country’s capital, but the events that occurred caused the intervention of FIFA and CAF to postpone the match.
