The German national team took the top spot in Group X of the European qualifiers for the World Cup finals to be held in Qatar next year, after defeating its guest, Armenia, 6-0 during the match that brought them together on Sunday in the fifth round, which also witnessed Romania’s victory over Liechtenstein 2-0.
The goals of the German team were scored by Serge Nabri (two goals) in the sixth and 15 minutes, Marco Reus in the 35th minute, Timo Werner in the last minute of the first half, Jonas Hoffmann in the 52nd minute, and Karim Adeyemi in the first minute of overtime for the match.
The German team raised its score to 12 points to take the lead in the standings, and Armenia’s tally stopped at ten points in second place.
In the second match, Romania defeated Liechtenstein 2-0.
The goals of the Romanian national team, Elaine Tosca and Christian Mania, scored in the 11th and 18th minutes.
The Romanian team raised its score to nine points in third place, and Liechtenstein remained without a score at the bottom of the standings.
In the third match, Iceland drew 2-2 with its guest, North Macedonia.
The goals of the Icelandic team were scored by Brianar Bjarnason and Andrei Gudjohnson in the 78th and 84th minutes, while North Macedonia’s Darko Velikowski and Izjan Iluski scored in the 12th and 54th minutes.
Iceland raised its score to four points in fifth place, while North Macedonia raised its score to eight points in fourth place.
