The Director of the Pasteur Institute in Algeria, Faouzi Drar, revealed this Sunday that two million doses of the Chinese vaccine, Sinovac, have arrived in Algeria today, to be added to the national stockpile of the vaccine, which has reached 6 million doses.
Fawzi Darrar said in a statement to the first radio channel, “The stock of the vaccine against Covid 19 is sufficiently available, as we have 4 million doses, and with the receipt of two million doses, we will reach 6 million doses that will be directed to continue the vaccination campaign to achieve collective immunity.”
He also pointed out that unvaccinated people are more than 17 times more likely to hospitalize and die.
The Director of the Pasteur Institute confirmed that vaccinating 70 percent of the citizens will protect Algeria from the spread of new strains of Covid 19, led by the Colombian “Mo” mutant.
This coincides with the continuation of the vaccination campaign launched by the Ministry of Health since last January to get out of the tunnel of the Corona pandemic.
