Dr. Abbas El-Shennawy, head of the agricultural services and follow-up sector at the Ministry of Agriculture, said that the ministry has developed a detailed map for planting wheat seed varieties in the new winter season.
He continued: “Researchers at the Agricultural Research Center have succeeded in devising new, early-maturing varieties that are characterized by high productivity and resistance to various diseases and climatic changes to be cultivated in all areas of the valley and delta lands.
Dr. Abbas El-Shinawy added that the ministry aims to plant 3.5 million acres of wheat, an increase of 100,000 acres over last year, as it prepared to provide all production requirements for the cultivation of wheat and other crops in the coming winter season.

The head of the agricultural services sector confirmed that the agricultural directorates have been assigned to conduct indicative seminars for farmers in various governorates to urge farmers to increase areas to increase productivity of all strategic crops.
Al-Shennawi stressed the need for farmers to adhere to the varietal policy of crops for each governorate to achieve the highest productivity and not expose the crop to any satisfactory risks.
