According to the locals and the RHD department, heavy rain fell for an hour in the area around 3:30 pm on Friday. Drivers of various vehicles on their way to Dighinala from Upazila Sadar at around 6 am on Saturday went to a four-kilometer area and saw a landslide. At the same time, some drivers on their way from Dighinala to Baghaichhari saw a landslide in an area of 18 km (two hills).
The landslide occurred in the area of 11 Kilo and Jummabi Adam located in the area between the two places. The landslide caused at least 50 vehicles to get stuck on both sides of the road. Among them were some vehicles going to Dhaka and Chittagong. Upon receiving the news, members of the law enforcement force and people of the RHD went to the spot around 8 am. With the help of local residents, they started removing the landslide on the road.
It took three and a half hours to remove the soil from the road. After that around 11:30 in the afternoon, the traffic on that side of the road somehow started. The RHD said it would take a whole day to remove the entire landslide.
