The Brazilian team was forced to return two of its professional players to their club in Russia before their matches in the South American qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup 2022, after the team was deprived of its professional stars in the English Premier League.
Zenit St Petersburg’s Malcom and Claudinho returned to Russia at the club’s request, after she joined the samba team last Friday.
The Brazilian Football Confederation stated that it had submitted an official complaint to the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA).
The English Premier League clubs refused to send professional players to the national teams in the countries listed on the British government’s red list, including Brazil, as they will need medical isolation upon their return to Britain.
As a result, the Brazilian team suffered an impressive numerical shortage in its ranks during its matches against Chile at dawn on Friday, Argentina on Sunday and Peru on Thursday.
The Argentine national team will be able to rely on Emiliano Martinez and Emiliano Bondia after receiving an exception from the English team Aston Villa.
But Aston Villa confirmed the players’ ability to play only the first two matches of the qualifiers.
